“In 2015, I decided to run my first marathon. As a rookie, I made my first mistake–I gave up all other training activities and only ran. You guessed it–I ended up with a significant IT band injury. I completed that marathon, but in the end, I was still injured.
That’s when I turned to Adams Performance for help. My running injury was the result of weak glute and hip muscles. After a thorough assessment and goal setting session, we began a strength and conditioning program to get me stronger and injury-free with the ultimate goal of returning me to running.
Fast forward to the 2016 Richmond Marathon. I consistently strength trained with Kyle three days a week, reduced my total running volume, and completed my second marathon almost an hour faster, and more importantly, injury-free! What a difference a year makes!
I continue to train with Adams Performance three days a week. We have set new goals for 2017 and they are there with me every step of the way. I’m still chasing that elusive pull-up but I know that by working together, I’ll get it–this year!”
